Suddenly cant drag video progress bars or sliders on macOS Aloha

Solved sakae 20 days ago

I’ve been using Aloha for about one or two years now, mainly on macOS just for watching videos. But a few days ago I suddenly noticed that I can’t drag any video progress bars anymore, and I haven’t changed any settings or updated my system at all. It’s not a huge deal for watching videos since I can still use the arrow keys, but it becomes a real problem when a website asks me to drag a slider for verification — I just get stuck there. I tried reinstalling Aloha and even rebooting my Mac, but nothing helped. I tried other browsers and they work fine. Does anyone know what’s going on or how to fix this?

Good day,

Thanks for your feedback. What Aloha Version do you currently have and on what website does the progress bar seek fails? May I please see this behaviour in the screen recording?

Kind Regards,

Hi, thanks for getting back to me.

I’m currently using Aloha version 4.17.0.0 on macOS Tahoe 26.3.1.
The issue happens on most websites I use, such as YouTube, Niconico Douga and Bilibili.

Here’s what I tested and recorded:
- YouTube: can’t drag or even click the progress bar.
- Bilibili: same thing, no dragging or clicking.
- Niconico Douga (both Aloha and Safari as comparison) : I can click to jump, but dragging still doesn’t work.

Please see the following:

  1. Extension Check: temporarily disable all extensions (especially AdBlock or any video downloaders) to see if they are intercepting the drag gesture.
  2. Hardware Acceleration Toggle: go to Aloha Settings and toggle Hardware Acceleration (if it's ON, turn it OFF; if OFF, turn it ON). This often affects how video UI layers are rendered and interacted with.
  3. Private Tab Test (Incognito): open a Private Tab and try dragging the slider there. This helps us determine if the issue is caused by corrupted cookies, site data, or specific browser state in the main window.
  4. Full-Screen vs Windowed: Does the dragging fail in both windowed mode and full-screen mode?

Thanks for getting back to me — I’ve found the cause of the issue.

It was triggered by an extension called “Furigana Plus”.
Once I disabled this extension, the drag behavior on YouTube, Bilibili, and other sites returned to normal. Hardware Acceleration, Private Tab, and Full-screen/Windowed mode did not affect the issue. The problem was entirely caused by the extension intercepting drag events.

By the way, I’ve had the Furigana Plus extension installed for a long time and it never caused any issues before. This drag problem only started recently (probably about a week ago), so something must have changed either in the extension or in how Aloha handles events.

Thanks for the help!

It looks like this behaviour is caused by the “Furigana Plus” extension and this behaviour is present in other browsers too.

There are plenty of other extensions that can do the same thing, so I’ll just switch to another one.
Thanks again for the help!
