"An error occurred while checking for updates: 9 (error code 0)"

Completed Craig Crosley 21 days ago

Aloha->About Aloha this error shows - Version 4.17.0.0 (Official Build) (arm64) - running on MacMini M1 MacOS Tahoe 26.4.1. The browser never updates. I need to do an update that will preserve all of the windows and respective tabs. I'm getting very frustrated that I cannot get beyond this problem. I almost bailed on Aloha altogether when it was prompting me to upload a picture of myself for age verification. Why would it ever need to do that? I'm 66 and just want to keep using the browser. I came to Aloha because it includes VPN; however, as of late, the VPN will come on but then automatically disappear after awhile.

Good day,

Thanks for your feedback.

Latest Version Confirmed: You are already on the latest build (4.17.0.0). There is no need to update, and your tabs/data are perfectly safe. Even with manual update - everything will be in new version.
Update Error "Code 0": This is a known visual bug in the current interface. We have already fixed it, and the correction will be included in the next release. You can simply ignore it for now.
VPN Disconnection Investigation: We need to clarify why the VPN is "disappearing." Usually, the VPN might disconnect after a period of inactivity to save resources.

Question: Does the VPN disconnect only when the browser is idle (not being used for a minute or so), or does it also turn off while you are actively browsing or watching a video?

Kind Regards,

Aloha Team

Dear Aloha Team,

Thank you for your clarification.

I have also encountered the same VPN disconnection behavior on macOS.

Additionally, I would like to confirm regarding the update process — if a new version becomes available, can it be updated directly through the application without needing to manually download and reinstall from the website?

Kind regards,

Dear Aloha Team,

It appears that on the mobile application, the VPN (or TrafficMask) remains remembered and automatically reconnects when the application is opened, without requiring manual activation each time.

However, on the browser version, the VPN needs to be manually reconnected every time the browser is launched.

Kind regards,

Yes, you can update within the app, once the new version is available - update button will appear in the browser 👍 In regards, to VPN, VPN settings are different from mobile version and some features are unavailable.

Best,

Aloha Team
