Feedback on video pre-roll ad blocking in iOS Aloha Browser
Hello Aloha Team,
I hope you are doing well. First of all, I want to say that I genuinely like Aloha Browser and truly appreciate the work of the Aloha team. Your focus on privacy and the overall stability of the browser make it one of the best options on iOS for me.
I wanted to share some feedback regarding my experience on iPhone. I’ve noticed that the built-in ad blocking does not always work reliably with video pre-roll ads on platforms other than YouTube. The same videos are completely ad-free when viewed in Safari using AdBlock or uBlock Origin, while in Aloha Browser those ads sometimes still appear. This stood out to me because my experience with Aloha is otherwise very positive.
I also wanted to mention a design-related observation. The current interface feels closer to an Android-style flat design. From an iOS perspective, I think the browser could benefit from a more native, liquid glass design, similar to Safari or Orion. Subtle translucency, depth, and smoother visual transitions would make the interface feel more aligned with iOS and enhance the overall experience.
Finally, the most important usability point for me is the absence of a pinch gesture to access the Tab Overview. On iPhone, being able to quickly pinch to see all open tabs, as in Safari, is a key interaction pattern and greatly improves navigation and comfort. Adding this gesture would make a big difference in daily use.
I’m sharing these thoughts because I really like Aloha Browser and trust that your team will do everything possible to improve the product. If needed, I’d be happy to provide additional details, example websites, or help with testing.
Thank you for your time and for building such a solid browser.
Best regards.
