Liquid Glass update feedback + a few must-have gestures and player improvements
Hello Aloha Browser Team,
First of all, congratulations on the new Liquid Glass design direction. I genuinely felt excited seeing it, and I want it to succeed so badly because I’ve been rooting for Aloha for years.
That said, I wanted to share something honestly, and a bit emotionally, because I really care: the Liquid Glass treatment still doesn’t feel fully applied in some menus and parts of the UI. The direction is beautiful, but there are still areas that look like they’re from the older system, and it breaks the “new era” feeling.
More importantly, there are two gesture features that I truly believe should be non-negotiable for a modern browser experience:
Switching tabs by swiping left or right on the address bar
Entering the tab overview by sliding the address bar upward, or screen via pinch gestures (zoom out to reveal the tab grid)
Right now these aren’t available, and honestly, without them the navigation experience feels incomplete. I don’t mean this as criticism for the sake of it, I mean it as someone who wants Aloha to feel as fluid and premium as it can be.
Also, the video player still feels quite outdated compared to what the rest of the app is aiming for. For example:
The brightness and volume change animations feel like an older generation UI
When scrubbing, there’s no visual thumbnail preview above the progress bar
A “press and hold for 2x speed” behavior is missing (it’s a small thing, but once you’re used to it, it becomes essential)
YouTube and Infuse are great references here. If Aloha’s player took inspiration from those interactions, it would instantly feel more modern and practical.
Please, please forward this message to the software team. I’m confident they’ll understand why these matter. And I’m sincerely asking: please don’t just send an automatic reply and move on. I’ve been waiting and hoping for these improvements for years. I’m not writing this casually, I’m writing because I truly want Aloha to be the browser I can fully commit to.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for continuing to build Aloha. I’m really, genuinely asking you to consider these changes.
Hi, Kenan
Thanks for such a detailed feedback, we genuinely appreciate it. Its great to hear you are enjoying the support of iOS liquid glass UI. While some of the features requested are already in the works, also the switching tabs by swipe on the address bar (will be fixed this week), and entering tab overview by sliding upward will be done in the next few weeks. We will definitely consider the rest of you great suggestions - our design team are aware of it already 😉
Thanks again for being loyal Aloha user 🤩
Best Regards,
Aloha Team
