iOS says Aloha is using more storage than it actually is

Solved Zed 5 months ago

Aloha says I’m using 56GB of storage where as iOS Storage says it’s using 66GB. I’ve cleared everything and emptied trash. How do I get my 10GB of storage back without deleting the app?

Searching some of the posts here seems to be a common issue?

3. Turn Debug switch on

5. Tap Report in the top right corner and send it to us

We will look into it as soon as we can.

Sent. I had to upload the files to a file share due to file size preventing me from sending

Hi there,

According to the latest report, right now your Aloha's downloads folder is stored only 106mb in different web caches. Could you please again add screenshots with Aloha storage size in downloads and system settings to compare?

Odd, it says 53GB in Aloha and 67GB on iOS.

Please click on it, see image for reference:

Then check the app size and app data/documents size, again please take a screenshot.

iOS shows the accurate size when I offload Aloha.

But goes back when re downloaded

Clear cache!

Unsuccessfully…

Remove and reinstall app.

Do you installed any dock or extension?

Removing app would delete my files/downloads no?

Hi,

The discrepancy between the file sizes shown in the two screenshots is because they're measuring different aspects of the Aloha app's storage usage:

In the first screenshot (iPhone Storage):

  • App size - This represents the installed application code itself
  • Documents and data - This represents user data stored by the app

In the second screenshot (Aloha Files page):

  • "Aloha files" - This specifically shows files stored by Aloha that are accessible through the device's file system

The difference occurs because:

  1. The first screenshot shows the total app footprint (both the app binary and all its data)
  2. The second screenshot is showing only user-accessible files that Aloha has created

Most of Aloha's of "Documents and data" are likely stored in app-specific directories or databases that aren't directly accessible through the device's file system, which explains why not all Mbytes appear as "Aloha files" in the storage management view.
