Deleted App

Completed Spaciously Space 21 days ago

Hello Aloha Support,

I urgently need help recovering my downloads. I accidentally deleted the Aloha Browser app from my iPhone. Before deleting it, I had iCloud sync enabled, so I expected my files to be restored after reinstalling the app and logging back into the same account.

However, after reinstalling Aloha and signing back in, all my downloads are missing. I also checked the Files app on iOS, and the Aloha folder is now empty.

These downloads are extremely important to me, and I’m hoping there is still a way to recover them. Could you please check if:

  • my files may still exist in iCloud or on your servers,
  • there is a hidden backup/cache I can restore from,
  • or if there is any recovery process available for deleted app data?

I would really appreciate any help or guidance you can provide. Thank you.

I do have iCloud sync/backups enabled. In my iOS Settings > iCloud > Manage Storage > Backups, I can see that the Aloha app still has 6.53 GB of backup data, and the last backup date is 5/15/2026.

However, after reinstalling the app, nothing appears in my Downloads folder inside Aloha.

My question is: if I tap “Back Up Now” on my iPhone, could that restore the missing downloads, or would it overwrite the older backup that might still contain my files? Is there any way to recover or restore the old Aloha app data/downloads from the existing backup?

Hi,

Please do the following before anything else, in this order:

  1. Settings → [your name] → iCloud → iCloud Backup → turn OFF. This is critical. Apple keeps only one backup per device. A new backup (manual or automatic) would overwrite the 5/15/2026 backup that contains your downloads.
  2. Settings → [your name] → Find My → Find My iPhone → turn OFF (it will ask for your Apple ID password). This also verifies you know the password — you'll need it again during restore.
  3. Do NOT tap "Back Up Now."

Then:

About what's recoverable. iCloud Backup is a full-device snapshot, not a per-file sync. Reinstalling Aloha from the App Store always gives a clean, empty sandbox — that's why your downloads are missing. The 6.53 GB backup from 5/15/2026 in Settings → iCloud → Manage Storage → Backups does contain your Aloha downloads, but the only way to get them back is to restore the entire backup to the iPhone.

Tapping "Back Up Now" will NOT restore your files — it would overwrite the 5/15 backup with the current empty state. Please don't.

Before restoring, confirm:

  • You know your Apple ID password (step 2 above tests this).
  • You can receive your 2FA code — either on a second Apple device (iPad/Mac) or via a trusted phone number set at appleid.apple.com.
  • Anything important created after 5/15/2026 is saved outside iCloud (photos copied to a computer, etc.). Restore reverts the device to the 5/15 state — anything newer is lost.
  • iPhone is on Wi-Fi and charging. Restore takes several hours.

Restore procedure:

  1. Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone →Erase All Content and Settings.
  2. iPhone restarts into setup.
  3. Choose Restore from iCloud Backup.
  4. Sign in with the same Apple ID.
  5. Select the 5/15/2026 backup.
  6. Wait for the restore to finish.

Aloha will be back on the device with your downloads in place.

Alternative: if you ever made a local Finder/iTunes backup on a Mac/PC before deleting Aloha, tools like iMazing can extract Aloha's Documents from that local backup without wiping the phone. This does not work with iCloud backups.

Best,

Aloha Support
